Nervous Systems Disorders Management

Nervous Systems Disorders Management

Nervous system disorder or neurological disorders can refer to problems or conditions with the nervous system. The nervous system is a complex, sophisticated system that regulates and coordinates the body’s activities. Pain can be experienced in nervous or neurological issues, arising from trauma, inflammation, disease, infection, nerve degeneration, exposure to toxic chemicals and nutrient deficiencies.

A nerve pain is usually a sharp shooting pain or a constant burning sensation. Sometimes weakness or impaired function in the affected area can occur and the skin may be overly sensitive or numb.

Acupuncture points are believed to stimulate the central nervous system. This, in turn, releases chemicals into the muscles, spinal cord, and brain. These biochemical changes may stimulate the body's natural healing abilities and promote recovery.

Some neurological problems that can be resolved with Acupuncture and TCM:

1. Headaches: The kinds of headache that can be treated with acupuncture and TCM include migraines, tension headaches, headaches around menstrual cycle period, sinus headaches and stress related headaches.

2. Carpal Tunnel Syndrome: occurs when swelling or irritation of the nerve or tendons in the wrist carpel tunnel, resulting in pressure on the median nerve and pain and restrictions in movements of wrist.

3. Trigeminal Neuralgia: Facial pain resulting from trigeminal neuralgia is responsible for impulses of touch, pain, pressure and temperature sent to the brain from the face, jaw and gums.

4. Dementia is a general term for a decline in mental ability severe enough to interfere with daily life. Memory loss is an example and Alzheimer’s is the most common type of dementia. Acupuncture can help reduce the rate of progression in dementia by stimulating the nerves and slow down the nerve degeneration and increase blood flow to nourish the nerves.

5. Parkinson's disease (PD) is the second-most-common chronic and progressive neurodegenerative disease. Many patients with PD have turned to complementary therapies to help relieve their symptoms. Acupuncture is most commonly used as a complementary therapy in patients with PD.

Acupuncture has been reported to improve PD clinical symptoms such as tremor, a decrease in the dosage of antiparkinsonian drugs, a decrease in side effects, and improvements in daily life, such as improved sleep.
