Inner Practice Series: What You Wish for Yourself, Wish for Others
I was talking to one patient and she was describing to me her life and how she was so blessed in the last couple of years. But what touched me most was when at the end of her description, she quietly added the last sentence, “And I wish that for all others as well.”
This is what I called charisma (人格魅力).
As I have always mentioned, what you give out comes back to you multiplied and folded over. And the simple kind thought of wishing well for others as well has the same effect.
And the converse is true. I have met people in this world who can be full of jealousy and holds the toxic attitude of “if I don’t have it, so shouldn’t you”. In Chinese we called 见不得人家好. In Metaphysics these are the ‘small people’ or 小人. And to think of it, the term describes them so well. Small people, small people, people who have small hearts. And the wise you should know how their lives work out to be.
So indeed, what you wish for others, you will get it too.
Practice: Try it. What you wish for yourself, wish it for others and see how your day or life turns out to be.
