Big terms again. But if you are one of those who loves watching Chinese martial arts, you would have heard the term “三魂七魄”. Hun (魂) refers to Etheral Soul and Po (魄) refers to Corporeal Soul.

Soul in this case simply refer to consciousness and Etheral and Corporeal Soul are just two different kinds of consciousness that exist in a person. Simply put, Etheral Soul is the energy that is connected to the Higher Consciousness or Higher Self within a person, while Corporeal Soul is the energy that is connected to our primal instincts to survive in this physical 3D world.

And the reason for TCM to acknowledge the existence of Soul is because we have our own set of Psychology that links health from all aspects together, including physical, emotional and spiritual. This is so that when we assess and treat one part of the equation of being human, we keep in view and improve the entire human being on all levels. We like things holistic and not segregated and compartmentalised, don’t we?
