Interesting TCM Fact 101: Psychic TCM Doctors
Because Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is a medicine that encompasses the physical and energetic
aspects of health, some TCM doctors in the ancient times did possess psychic abilities that allowed them
to see things beyond flesh and bones. And these doctors are renowned even up till today and even
revered as gods.
The psychic abilities of these doctors were cultivated through down-to-earth practices through serving
patients and also practices for spiritual development such as meditation. These were the people who
embodied the authentic TCM and it was because of them that the knowledges of TCM were infallible for
thousands of years and more to come.
This thus also bring about the point that it was a real shame for some TCM doctors today who spent time not to brush up their practices but to look for shortcut methods to make quick money, such as through using machinery from some other dodgy fields and specialties to leverage into a business kingdom. I find that deeply appalling and shameful to have such people in the industry. Nevertheless I believe that the karmic effects would take care of such acts rooted from laziness and greed.
Returning to the TCM doctors with psychic abilities, here they are and their wonderful stories:
1. Bian Que and his X ray eyes
Bian Que is the earliest known Chinese physician during the Warring States period. He was said to be able
to see through walls with his eyes. Therefore, he could fully use this ability to see the internal organs of
people and diagnose their illnesses accurately without fail.
2. Zhang Zhong Jing and his prediction abilities
Zhang Zhong Jing was a Chinese pharmacologist, physician, inventor, and writer of the Eastern
Han dynasty and one of the most eminent Chinese physicians during the later years of the Han dynasty.
He was able to accurately predict the death time of a patient who did not comply to his advice for his
health. Similarly like Bian Que, Zhang Zhong Jing has extraordinary powers of perception which allows him
to see through walls and human bodies.
3. Sun Si Miao was said to have become a deity
Sun Si Miao was a Chinese physician and was titled as China’s King of Medicine for his significant
contributions to Chinese medicine and tremendous care to his patients.
Before he passed away, he ordered that there should be no elaborate ceremonies and no animal sacrifices
should be made. His facial radiance did not deteriorate even after one month from his death. It was said
that Sun Si Miao was sometimes still seen as alive and moving around by people even after his death.
4. Li Shi Zhen and his internal body introspective ability
Li Shi Zhen was a Chinese acupuncturist, herbalist, naturalist, pharmacologist, physician and writer of the
Ming Dynasty. He was the author of a 27-year work, found in the Compendium of Materia Medica. He
trained himself tirelessly and meditated relentlessly in his younger days and ultimately developed the
ability to be highly introspective of his internal body workings and functions. Through this ability he was
able to even see how Qi flows within human system and was hence a master in acupuncture and acupoint
usage.
It came to me as a great disappointment to see how the status of TCM doctors and physicians are highly disregarded in today’s modern society when only Western medicine and science are looked up to because they fit into the standard of scientific trial tests which can only understand the tip of an iceberg of the entire human system and its workings. And to see how current TCM doctors succumb to money making shortcuts through machinery and technology makes it even more heart wrenching.
TCM is about down-to-earth practices and the requirements of real TCM doctors are highly stringent and all rounded. From the skillsets to the character and spiritual development of the doctor, the practice is definitely not for shortcut takers. One should decipher carefully what is real and not by chasing after flowery empty marketing gimmicks and quick fix fads using methods that has no connection to any ancestral lineages.
