How to deal with Reopening Anxiety with TCM and Fengshui
As Singapore reopens on 26 April 2022 with many of the restrictions lifted and travel being made so much
easier, a new kind of anxiety is emerging: reopening anxiety.
It has been two and a half years since the outbreak of the pandemic. During this time, many have
experienced the depression, stress and trauma from facing the pandemic and the difficulty of being
isolated from loved ones and devoid of the usual comforting routines.
Now after long periods of isolation, many are faced with the fear of going back outside. Here’s why:
1. There is still a lot of uncertainty about what is safe and what is not. And we are not sure if more new
variants are emerging.
2. Group sizes to gather has returned to normal with no restrictions. For those who are introverts and
already have social anxiety, meeting up with friends in groups of five or eight was just comfortable. The
thought of meeting up in groups larger than five or eight and the decision-making process to agree to turn
up for large gatherings and social events bring on the anxiety once again, in a different form.
3. Cramming in public transport and getting stuck in traffic jams in the peak hours – the thought of it
already is tiring, exhausting and stressful.
4. Crowds flooding the malls, restaurants, parks and literally anywhere is simply unpeaceful and messy.
5. Two and a half years of restrictions have put us all in another routine for life. A quieter, more spacious,
less travelling one. A sudden announcement that we are switching back to the mode of rat race is simply a
mix of disturbing and exciting by itself.
So how do we deal with such reopening anxiety, from TCM, Fengshui, spiritual perspective?
Take TCM herbs for immunity boosting
Whether there are variants or not, immunity boosting is still necessary and important to ward off any
possibility of catching any kinds of virus. Take more herbs such as turmeric, cinnamon, ginger, cardamon
that can help with immunity boost.
Fengshui and Earthing
Too much travelling and gathering of people can cause one’s energy to be too scattered and dissipated.
Use Fengshui methods to ground yourself with Earth elements activation. Examples are wearing clothes
that are earth colours such as sand, brown, beige, yellow and take time to walk barefoot on grasses and
soils.
You are not obliged to do what others are doing
The fact that many people are travelling, going on endless holidays, returning to be social butterflies after
reopening is really none of your business. So stop succumbing to the social pressures of having the need
to be just like everyone else.
