Inner Practice: Treasure All You Meet
As the world is opening up and many of us have already flown out to somewhere in the world, we get to meet people we have not seen for a long time. We also get to meet new people along the journeys out.
Every encounter is meaningful. In fact, all encounters in the world are said to be a reunion after a long time.
There is a Chinese saying “十年修得同船渡,百年修得共枕眠” which means it takes 10 years of cultivation to cross the river on the same boat with a particular person. It takes 100 years of cultivation to share the same bed as a couple.
We do not meet people by chance.
A brief encounter might have taken a detour of thousands of years. If you have someone that you love and come together with, love them well. Because a lot of luck and blessings must have been accumulated for this to blossom. If you do not have such a person, believe in time. Because time will bring the right people to you.
Treasure everyone you meet in your life now. No matter how short, fleeting and insignificant the encounter is. Because no one knows how long the next detour will take.
