Why Acupuncture Works?

In one of my previous blog post on how TCM works scientifically, it shows how acupuncture does to the body at the physiological level.

In this blog post, I will elaborate on why acupuncture works beyond the physiological level.

But to recap, let us start from the physical flesh and bone level:

Why Acupuncture Works on the Physiological level

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, illnesses are seen as conditions when the body has blockages or stagnations. Qi or energy and blood are not smooth in their flow. And when the flow is poor, toxins and unwanted substances get accumulated in the body, causing inflammations, micro or macro inflammations to occur and pain will be prominent.

As a direct remedy, acupuncture promotes qi/energy and blood flow and reduces any kind of inflammation in the body.

When the flow is smooth, the body is healthy.

Why Acupuncture Works on the Mental level

In the world of science, mental illnesses and conditions such as anxiety, depression, Obsessive Compulsive Disorders occur mainly due to the nervous system and hormonal system going into states of imbalance.

Acupuncture which involves the insertion of a needle into acupoints sends a signal to the nervous system and hormonal system to naturally return to normal. Therefore, any kind of mental illnesses will find its cure through acupuncture without the need for Western chemical pills and drugs suppression and overdose. Why Acupuncture Works on the Emotional level

Emotional health is a major focus in Traditional Chinese Medicine. It is not similar to Psychology in Western Medicine when again the subject matter returns to trying to rectify within the state of nerves and hormones.

Traditional Chinese Medicine sees emotions such as anger, fear, joy, grief, worry as part of being human, but when emotions become extreme or prolonged, it can start to have effects on the physical health.

Acupuncture which is part of Traditional Chinese Medicine works right from the energetic level. Emotions are simply energy in motion. And Acupuncture holds the beauty of working with and balancing emotions right from the start. Read more about Acupuncture for Pineal Gland here.
