Raisins have been around for thousands of years and are one of the oldest dried fruits in human history. They were first cultivated back in ancient Persia or Iran of today. They are also often used in spiritual ceremonies in the past. Due to its golden colour, it represents the sun’s warmth and energy and hence were used in ancient rituals to represent the sun and its rays.
Raisins spiritually denotes wealth, abundance, fertility and prosperity.
In ancient Egypt, raisins can be used as a ritual offering to Ra or are placed on the altar to honour the Gods or Goddesses.
Raisin cakes are mentioned in the Bible to represent the sweetness of life and also the desire to be kind, caring and loving in all that we do.
