Ask Dr Xiang Jun: Why Emotional Release is Important and How Acupuncture & Tension Release Therapy help
Why Emotional Release is Important
One of my patients asked me this question recently. And I thought it will be good to share here some of the reasons why emotional release is important.
Break Emotional Loops
Emotions are energy in motion. Often when energy is stuck within an area, it does not dissipate and die. It goes in loops. This is when people start to feel anxious, angry or other emotions and feelings arising out of nothing in their daily lives even when the trigger is absent. When that occurs, it is known as a disorder in western medical terms. You cannot control how it starts, why it starts and when it ends. This is when conventional medicine uses drugs to suppress the emotions, quietening them in the name of cure, when all they do is creating a breeding ground for major illnesses to come. Rather than suppressing, releasing is the way to break such emotional loops.
Allow Important Messages From The Body To Surface
Emotions and feelings are the key gateways to the heart. Emotions are expressions of the inner landscapes. Emotions hold important messages from the body, telling us what to do and what not to do for our highest good. However, as humans evolute to intellectuals, we often use the mind to think than to feel. To look sane, we use logic to suppress intuition. And we close the gateways to what our heart truly wants and yearns for: happiness, joy, love. Only by allowing emotions to surface and release can we then reconnect with our true self and inner deepest desire, which then guides us in our behaviors and actions towards achieving such goals.
Releases Emotional Trauma Patterns Into Flow
One of the results of traumatic experience (fresh and old alike) is “freeze”, a state in which body, mind and emotions are stuck in a state of numbness. Often “freeze” is falsely perceived as a feeling of “calm/nothing”, which results in an inability to release the experience and ease the bodily patterns.
Emotional release gently opens the freeze pattern and allows one to be open to new possibilities in life rather than trapped in the shadows of trauma.
How Acupuncture & Tension Release Therapy Help
Acupuncture aids in emotional release through the different formulas of acupoints in opening up the meridians and channels for emotions and feelings to rise, surface and flow. Read about Acupoint Medicine Dan Zhong on self love and heart opening here.
Tension Release Therapy encourages an identifying and unwinding of the patterns of contraction and through gentle, non-force movements relieves the bodily tension and underlying mental and emotional loops.
