Bazi Fengshui Series: Property Missing Sectors in Fengshui

A property or land has the ability to gather energy for the benefit of the owner and people living inside. Therefore it is important that a property or unit is ‘complete’ in terms of its shape.

In classic Fengshui, the term “Four Points of Gold” (四点金) is used to describe the ideal shape of a piece of land or property, which is square or rectangular. However modern properties are often built ‘incomplete’ with missing sectors which may have impact on the owner or occupants in time to come. Hence, it is good to know of this before you purchase the property or land and if you already have the property, some remedies can be made to improve the situation. But do note that prevention is always better than cure and that avoidance of bad units or properties are always preferred than patching up and fixing the problems that stick along with your property ownership.

What Is A Missing Sector?

As a thumb of rule, missing sectors need to be at least one-nineth of the entire floor plan.

Below are some examples of houses or units with missing sectors.

What It Means To Have A Missing Sector?

In simple terms, the unit floor plan is usually divided into 9 equal sectors after identifying the facing direction of the property. Each sector has its own representative direction with reference to the facing direction of the unit. And from there we are able to link each sector’s relations to elements and impacts on different family member, health, profession or career.

A missing sector is considered a ‘weakened sector’ and that there is a weak connection between the person represented by the sector and the house. Over time, the missing sector can have implications on health, career, relationships and even characteristics of the person impacted by the missing sector.

Remedies For Missing Sectors

As mentioned, it is best to avoid purchasing a house or property that has missing sectors. But if conditions do not allow, there are remedies that can help to uplift and ‘patch’ the missing sectors on a case-by-case basis according to the discretion and analysis of the Fengshui Consultant.

For me, if I see that the North sector is missing, elements that bring in water using the Three Combinations of Monkey-Rat-Dragon can be installed at the sector. In practice, lightings, doors, windows can be harnessed to bring in the elements of the Three Combinations. Another advanced remedy is using external Qi opening if there is a water element outside in the direction of the missing sector.
