Women’s Health Series: Is Menopause A Suffering
When we talk about menopause, many women still frown upon the idea of it and all the fear and discomfort it brings. This is also the reason why Hormone Replacement Therapy exists and thrives in today’s society in the name of saving women from the suffering of menopause.
But is menopause just a suffering that women should delay its onset as much as possible or is it that we have given it a bad name due to our own ignorance and carelessness in taking care of ourselves in preparation of this stage of life?
Menopause Is A Suffering, Only If You Do Not Know How to Take Care of Yourself
There are many symptoms of menopause that make women feel less of what they are in their later years and downright born to suffer because we are born with a womb.
Energy and stamina go downhill. Patience and resilience turn to irritability. Nimbleness to heaviness. Beauty sleep to sleepless nights. Cool headedness to hot flashes. A slow drag of the body in transition.
However everything has a choice. All these discomforts are experienced only if a woman chooses to do nothing to take care of herself physically, mentally and emotionally during this life changing stage.
A woman can choose to fade quietly into “this is just how I am now” or take charge and begin the work to help herself.
Acupuncture and Herbal Medicines
Acupuncture and herbal medicines are well known to balance hormones naturally through positive stimulation of the body’s own healing ability. Therefore, no side effects are experienced as it is only a process of the body healing and balancing itself.

The result: a smooth transition into menopause gracefully and with positive acceptance.
Energy Audit
The hormonal change during menopause is not an enemy. It is a wake up call.
The mood swings, aches and pains, brain fogs are not breaking a woman down. It is a breakthrough.
It is necessary for women to feel all these so called ‘negative’ changes in the body. Because instinctively the wise women bodies will force her to relook at where she is spending her energy.
I call it the ‘energy audit’.
This comes when a woman stops fighting against menopause by scrambling for ways with chemical pills and drugs to make menopause ‘disappear’ but fully accept, sit down and listen to what her body is trying to convey to her all these years.
The result: reprioritization of what deserves the life and energy of a woman.
Psychological & Soul Rebirth
Because the woman’s body is being put through a hurricane of changes during menopause, there simply is no time and energy to waste.
Instinctively, old habits, outdated roles, coping strategies that no longer serve are shattered.
Boundaries are set, strength to speak about needs without apology is built.
Expectations, people-pleasing, baggage of who she is told to be are lifted.
The result: A sharper, stronger, lighter wise woman reborn.
Conclusion
Menopause is a life process. It is part of nature. Anything that we do to manipulate or control nature will only result in disaster. Maybe not within the short time frame, but definitely in the near future.
Menopause is the most beautiful time in a woman’s life where she transforms and is reborn.
It is a time that calls for celebration and not grief.
Because women who has gone through menopause are powerful, radical and unstoppable and are indeed the ones that have the wisdom and strength to shape the world to become heaven on earth.
So no, menopause is not suffering.
It is happiness.
